I just wanted to take some time to tell you how much I appreciate all the hard work you have done for me over the years. Sixteen years ago the timing belt on my Toyota Tercel broke right in front of your shop. My car was completely disabled and stuck in the middle of the busy Broadway traffic, so I ran into your shop asking for help. Little did I know that fate had just dealt me one of the luckiest hands a person can receive. Let me explain.

 

I am a rural carrier for the USPS here in Edmond. I drive my car for a living. This driving I do is not like commuting or running errands. I spend three to four hours a day, five days a week, delivering several hundred pounds of mail and parcels to over 500 customers. I brake over 500 times a day, and at that time, I traveled 65 miles of dirt and gravel roads. In short, the wear and tear on my vehicle is accelerated by the type of driving I do. Most parts, especially brakes, wear out TEN TIMES faster in my car than they do in other people's cars. At that time I had no loyalty to any mechanic. Like most people, I was suspicious of mechanic ethics, and concerned about the cost of my auto repairs. I was still new enough at the job that I spent as little money as possible getting my car worked on, and as a consequence, had missed work, had been forced to repair the same thing twice (at my expense), and had suffered breakdowns that could have been avoided. When I allowed Metric Motors to put in that first timing belt, I doubted that I would return. However, Mike was so kind, so professional, and my repairs were made to quickly, I thought I would maybe try this shop at another time. I did, and I have never "tried" another shop again.


In all of my business dealings, I have never and I mean NEVER met a group of people that try so hard to make me happy. These guys do the job right, do it fast, and do it honestly. As an added bonus, I can honestly say that they, over the years, have become my friends. It just does not get any better than this. Thank God for Metric Motors!!!

Mechanics' toil, caring earn praise ( Edmond Sun, Daily Oklahoman)




TO THE EDITOR:


It is so unusual in this day and time to have an automobile garage go out of its way to be honest, cooperative and capable that I would like to share with your readers an experience I had in your community that I believe was exceptional.


Last August I was driving my car and following my daughter as she was heading for college in Texas. Her Porsche (an old and somewhat disintegrating heap) broke down on the interstate just outside Edmond.
After a number of unsuccessful phone calls, I was able to get a Mr. Michael Higgins at Metric Motors in Edmond to bring the car in and work on it even though his schedule was full. In two hours he was not 100 percent sure he had the car fixed. Very reluctantly I left the car with him telling him I would try to get back and pick it up.


To make a long story short, six days later he had one of his mechanics drive the car to Chicasha where I was working. The car was fixed and the repair bill was under $50. I paid the mechanic's expenses to come down ($30 - which was all I had left after getting a girl started in college) and Mr. Higgins and his staff took care of the rest.


I have never been treated as generously or fairly as I was by Metric Motors. We live in a generation of poor service and frequently being from out of town puts you at the mercy of less-than-honest dealers. Your community is fortunate to have an establishment like this.
